I grew up in Overtown, which is located in Miami, Florida. The youngest of 6 children. Had a loving mother and an infrequently present father.
Fast Forward
I had a well-paying career as a registered nurse. I use to put money aside after I paid all my bills. But I also liked helping people to the point I would deplete all my savings. I became homeless in 2017.
Homeless life over 2 years
I was homeless for over a couple years. I couch surfed, lived in my Mazda CX5 (for 8 months), and stayed in someone's garage for almost 1 year. Oh yeah, I also stayed in a women's shelter for about 8 months.
The Change
While homeless and sitting in the car with my family. Looking out at the kids playing in the park; I decided to take the first steps again of applying what I learned in the bible. With help and encouragement from teaching from Pastor Rick Warren, I was encouraged to start saving with what I had. 8 CENTS!
